To Search or Not to Search — That Is the Question!
In spite of the advantages of conducting a novelty search, some people opt not to conduct a preliminary (novelty) search, or to remain uninformed of relevant publications, before submitting their patent application. This article highlights the varied and sometimes bizarre reasoning behind their choice, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of this approach.
